When you buy a Shades Of Toast plugin, you're buying a license to use it — not the underlying code or DSP. Your license is:
Personal and commercial use: you may use the plugin in your own music, sound design, mixing, mastering, and released commercial work, with no royalties owed to us.
Non-transferable, activation-limited: each license permits activation on a limited number of machines (shown at checkout and in your purchase confirmation). Activation is hardware-locked and offline after the initial one-time check. If you need to move a license to a new or replacement machine, contact us — we handle this by hand, not automatically.
Not for resale or redistribution: you may not resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the plugin, your license, or your license code. You may not share your activation credentials.
No reverse engineering: you may not decompile, reverse engineer, or attempt to circumvent the plugin's license activation.
Free utilities offered under Free Tools are provided as-is, with no license fee and no activation requirement, for personal and commercial use. See the download page for each tool for any tool-specific terms.
See our refund policy on the FAQ page. In short: refunds are available within 14 days of purchase absent abuse (use on released commercial work, repeated buy-and-refund cycles), minus non-refundable payment-processing fees.
Some plugins include DSP adapted from third-party open-source code under permissive licenses (e.g. Airwindows, MIT License). Each plugin's About dialog credits any such component and bundles the full license text. Using a Shades Of Toast plugin doesn't grant you any rights to that third-party code beyond what its own license already grants.
Plugins and free tools are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee compatibility with every DAW, OS version, or hardware configuration. We aren't liable for any damages arising from use of a Shades Of Toast plugin or tool, including lost work, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of a Shades Of Toast plugin or this site after a change means you accept the update.
